For the love of (dance) shoes

Any of you who have been attending classes will know the state of my well loved dance shoes.

Yes that is gaffa tape holding them together!

I got them way back when at the All Balboa Weekend in Cleveland. Little did I know at the time they would turn out to be the most perfect dance shoe!

They are beautifully balanced, comfy from the first time I put them on. I can dance the night away switching easily from Lindy Hop to Balboa to Blues. The heel height is spot on and they are/were dressy enough to wear for performances.

I wish I had bough 5 pairs! Especially when I discovered that they were no longer being manufactured! My heart was broken and I have been doing all sorts to keep them going (Gaffa tape, glue, attempting to handstich them!). But as you can see they really are on their last legs.

The thought of trying to find a replacement shoe is daunting. I tried other dance shoe companies, I tried street shoes, I even ordered shoes online.... nothing worked. I was beginning to feel like Cinderella.

Then I found a little website which said they sold Aris Allen's..... could it be true? could they possibly have hidden in their stock room a lonely pair of mesh lace ups? I emailed them, not for one second expecting them to say they had any, let alone any in my size.

I got an email back.

I was a little nervous to open it.

Hallelujah!! Not only did they have this style in my size, they had TWO pairs!

Needless to say I ordered them both and they should be arriving any day now!
